The rules were changed in such a way Merc were stuck with their low-rake concept, if you remember because of the pandemic teams were not allowed to produce all-new cars for 2021. So MB ended up having to try and adapt a car not suited to the new rules.
Had the 2021 aero changes just been scrapped, on the basis the 2022 formula is coming soon, this year would be much like 2020 was in terms of ''results''.
Red Bull did not improve, Merc were slowed.
Racing is about data, completely.

Luck is nearly always close at hand for F1 champions...the jury is still out on which of the two who will win this years WDC has been the luckiest.

Since their bias is in your head, I suspect how they 'take' it will depend on the action that takes place (or not) to get that result.
They are big fans of Max and Alonso, perhaps less so for Bottas, but on the other hand they seem to give him an easy ride when he has poor races - more so than the pundits on the same channel at least.

I missed that, but then he isn't a guy I rate.
Hamilton was the one out on track, granted, but Merc had data and could look at what others did. It was a tough call, but Hamilton contributed to the situation.
Ocon was the first person to finish a race without pitting for 24 years. That should tell you something.
