Anyone using the 1/32 scale AMT Kits as a source for slot bodies? I bought a few as they came out using the 1/2 price coupons at Hobby Lobby. So far I have the 63 Stingray & Avanti built with either sliding adjustable plastic or brass tube chassis. Piranha and H&R Hawk motors are what I've tried so far. Would like to see some examples if you guys have used these or other plastic kits as a source for bodies. Just got back in the hobby since the late 1960s after nephews got a plastic track setup which resulted in me starting a 4'x18' routed track. IMG_0897.JPG

Good looking racers. I see some guys buying up these kits on the secondary market from vendors at the slot car shows. Some sellers at the shows have taken advantage of their 40% off (Hobby Lobby never offered 50% off on hobby items) coupons while they could. Unforunately, those convenient 40% off coupons are no more, but Hobby Lobby seems to be doing an every other week 40% off sale on all plastic model kits, which helps. The parts from the Mustang, Corvette, and Avanti kits seem to be good replacements for restoring original 1/32 slot car bodies from the 1960s.
Nice job on the Corvette and Avanti, thanks for the photo. Have FUN, and... Enjoy! -- Ernie

I bought an Avanti kit a few years back to build for a friend...that doesn't have any slot cars !
He has a real 64 Avanti the same color that you painted your Corvette.
I never did do a chassis for that car. I did a couple for myself, then started a brass and piano wire chassis for a car, just before I retired...then got sidetracked on other stuff, didn't finish that one either.
I guess I should get to work, at least on the Avanti.
