Just found my old Tyco US-1 Stomper set!

I am looking for some advice on how to proceed. I was at my folks house for Easter and went threw a couple of things and found my Tyco US-1 Stomper set which is about 90% complete. From some brief looking on eBay it looks like the two cars are pretty rare. I have the yellow pickup and blue bronco. The set is missing the garage area but otherwise seems to be in really good condition. Looking at the cars the wheels seem to be locked up as they don’t move with light pressure. I am not really interested in keeping this set as it seems like another collected might enjoy more and I could pick a less collectible set to use with my young son.

My question is do I part it out, sell it as a set, repair the chassis?

Wow, that's a nice clean box as well as the cars and track that are enclosed in it. I'm surprised you haven't had any takers from the guys that collect TYCO stuff.
When you sell it off, be sure you have some pictures for yourself to help save the memories. Then, buy an AFX set with the Mega G+ cars and 120 ohm controllers. You and the kids will have a blast! All the track, cars, and other accessories are readily available as well as the usual maintenance parts kits, be it a general tune up parts kit or a package containing 8 pairs of the appropriate pickup shoes for the cars. Thanks for the info BIG E, I’ve already started looking for the AFX items you suggested and it looks like I am going to have fun deciding on a fun setup for my kids.

I was hoping you could give me your opinion on selling my Tyco set, and how to maximize what I get for it? Is selling it altogether best or do I sell the cars separate as they seem the most valuable, or something else? Thanks in advance.

The US-1 trucks used a worm gear between the motor and axle. This gear is not backdrivable, so you can't turn the motor by turning the wheels. I'm assuming the Stomper version uses the same chassis as the other US-1 trucks. Unless you know something is broken, there is a good chance the cars are fine. Why not set up some track and see if they go?

Generally the cars are worth more than the track, as you've noticed. But if you sell the just the cars what are you going to do with the track?

I would be inclined to sell it as a set. The box is nice, the track looks clean, and you have both cars.
