• Sorry for the lack of updates at the end. When you get involved with post race activities, you kinda get occupied and don't get a chance to get things updated.

The final results as they stand now...

Slot Car Corner - 272.30
Dum Dums - 263.49
Cloverleaf - 258.38
Hazard Boys - 257.11
Cincinnati - 244.30
CanAm - 241.51

There will be pictures coming within the next few days. And though I don't know how long it'll take to produce, the wait for the official video will be worth the wait. That I am positive about...

• I think after the race was over, it was probably "party time" in Michigan (it would have been for me if I'd been racing for 24; make that 30, straight hours). We'll probably hear more from them today.

Congratulations to all of the teams! I can't even fathom a 48 minute heat.............

(Oooops, didn't see page 10 and Dickie's last post).

Looks like there was some late hour nail-biting between the Cloverleaf and the Hazard Boys teams; that's great! Again, congratulations to all of the teams!

• Congrats to the SCC team

and to all the other competitors as well. Talked to George/SouthernSloter last night as he was driving home....he was beat! And talk about grueling....they went thru several sets of SILICONE tires, you know how tough those tires are and they were wearing them out!

• This was my 8th 24-hour race and it was the most grueling so far. The added 6 hours were felt, even if we had more time to rest in theory.

Just getting through a race like this is an accomplishment. Everyone is a winner! The fun and laughter all around the track is the most wonderful aspect of this race.

Thank you to Mike for hosting this great event.

• I want to thank Mike and the Cloverleaf guys for putting on such a fine race. The planning it takes to feed, sleep and relieve 30 drivers and spectators had to be a huge undertaking. For his family to give up his home for one weekend to a bunch of neanderthal men is mind boggling. This was the most well orgainized slot event I have ever attended. No one wanted for anything. So many people staying up for over 30 hours and not one cross word was said from Friday till Sunday. I didn't know yankees could be so nice. Matter of fact, lots of laughs and fun was had by all. Just like it should be for grown men racing toy cars.
Congratulations to Slot Car Corner for setting the record. These guys were a fine oiled machine. Even though they were there to compete, anyone who asked them for advice or help, they gladly provided it. Matter of fact, they loaned us a flat NSR chassis to build a somewhat competitive car on Friday afternoon before the race.
I'll be back next year if invited. Hopefully more wiser and faster.

• A big thank you to Mike and his wife for letting us into their home and taking it over for 3 days. At one point I think their were 15 of us sleeping in Mike's Living room! I know Mike and the rest of the gang worked hard to put on the event. There was always food and drink and Mike was always asking if we needed anything and if everything was OK. Thank you to Dave's daughter for helping out and cooking breakfast on Sunday.

Records aside, it's an honor to win this event because of the hard work that gets put into it by the organizers and the competitors. That's a great group of competitors to race against which make it an even bigger win. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in an event like this.

Looking forward to next year as I am already planning and have ideas to go faster. There's a 6.6 second lap it that car..... I know it.

• Thanks for all the reports and congratulations SCC. Where the teams using the smallest OD supertires? Would a larger OD reduced the amount of wheel changes needed?

• The official final results are in. Here they are. Team Slot Car Corner's total distance is slightly lower than what was previously thought because of a small error in the race spreadsheet during the race. The new record now stands at 271.71 miles, 2.25 miles more than the previous record set last year by the same team.

No the reason we have to change tires has nothing to do with diameter of the tire, it has to do with the fact the the tires start to develop a cone shape to them so you loose a lot of contact patch. We measured them one year and the difference from the inside to the outside was between .010 to .020 Depending on how long you left them on the car and how you drove the car.

• Thanks to everyone.

I would like to give my heart felt thanks to everyone who showed up for this event and helped to make it the success that it was. A big congrats goes out to the SCC team on not only winning but also setting the new world record this year. We try to make this event into a friendly event but also a competitive one in my mind I think we have accomplished that. With that said I am always looking for ways to improve this event in all aspects so if you have any input on what we could do or what you might see as something I can improve please feel free to ask, you can send a privet email to me if you like, I can not fix something unless I know it is broken. I only want to make this event the best I can.
Mike
