Mark, the longest straight is 16 feet or so, but that straight is half of a dogleg that a well-tuned car can take flat-out (or very near flat-out). The total on the dogleg is probably closer to 30-35 feet, has a slight climb the whole distance, and goes into a fairly fast turn.

[quote=mikeinclover;787233]Mark track voltage is about 12.5 I run off an 8 cell DC battery. Track surface is a semi gloss paint. Longest straight is 16 plus feet. Braid depth is about .08 below the surface.

      Thanks.

Is the braid depth in inch or mm?

        Mike,

Is the track braid magnetic or copper?

I see, I just found an old thread with track pictures.

How many times did you have to say sick monkey last year around that dogleg corner?

The depth is in inches we are close to Canada but still in the US so we use inches when we can. The track is Copper braid not tape just so as not to be confused.

Saw the edit, 0.008" makes more sense

                    So Mark,
Are we to expect the Atlanta guys to show up this year?
That would make for a very competitive field of teams.

John, we're planning on it. We currently have 5 committed and a possible 6th.

We're excited and we'd be happy just to be competitive. It's been amazing watching this race and the teams racing in it evolve - all of you guys are really good.

We found if you used copper magnets, the car sticks really well thru the corners - (shoot!! just gave away a SCC secret!!!)

Ok - seriously - the .050 thick magnets worked the best...
I'm sorry... For you southern boys, .050 would be 1.28mm... :yo:

We use 'murican units down here, but when someone says 0.08 recess instead of 0.008, one should double check.

                          :yo:

One slight typo, I am a one man band over here so I will make a mistake or two but that is about it.:sorry: On a side note we will have all of our copper and wood magnets on sale for black Friday.

Make sure I have the same sleeping schedule as Georges, Smokeio and any other fast drivers. Throw all the pillows you want, I'll have my ear plugs in and padded sleeping bag. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
