  • Yes to the race being longer than 24 hours. Each team will run a full 24 hours.

Update on the race. Team Hazzard has developed a chatter in their car, and they're losing time in the pits trying to diagnose the problem. And Team SCC is having problems with their headlights, which will have to be fixed before the night session starts. The suspense is building....

    • 30 hours is that because of lane changes?

I thought it would be 28.8 hours to allow all to complete 24 hours of running, but if you add in lane changes, and they rotate through several times I could see the extra 1.2 hours being used.

So anyone have any idea how long the heats are?

      • Heats are 48 minutes...

Update on Team Hazzard and SCC. Team Hazzard found that they had a cracked in the motor pod. They have glued it and back out there running 6.9 laps with Mark driving. Team SCC headlights seem to have fixed themselves, so now we have to decide if we want to chance it and hope they stay working thru the night session, and check the car over to be sure they stay working...

        • 48 minute a heat, so 6 time rotate through the track?

6 times on each lane for 30 heats in total.
What happens on lights, do all have to be on or only 1 front and 1 back?

Dickie thanks for answering questions, so any spec info on cars, was the broken pod Slot.it or? Inline, sidewinder or angle winder.
Do you know what motor the leading team or any team is running?

I really appreciate you taking time out to post, hopefully someone will step up throughout the day and night to keep SCI Readers updated.
Should have one complete rotation through at 4.8 hours hopefully then you can update lap totals for all teams :)

            • Thanks for the updates, I too am following this event with interests, however I do also understand there are bigger fish to fry that posting here! Good luck to all, love to know the car and motor make and model for each team.

              • I think you may find a lot of Scaleracing SC0020 ball bearing motors among the competitors. I think it was a favorite motor last year; if I recall reading the posts on last year's race correctly.

                • Sorry for the delay, had to run my heat, then Marshall right after.

Team CanAm had some big problems in the guide area, and lost a lot of time. Good news is they got it fixed and and they're back running.

After 8 heats, SCC is still in the lead. There is a very close battle for 2nd between Cloverleaf and Dum Dum. The Hazzard boys have fought their way back to 4th after glueing the motor pod. In 5th is the Cincinnati team, followed by CanAm.

As far as what the teams are running...

                  SCC - NSR Mosler - Scaleauto 20 k SW
                  Dum Dum - Slot.It Lola - NSR 22k S can AW
Cloverleaf - NSR Mosler - Scaleauto 20k SW
Hazard - NSR Mosler - NSR 25k SW
                  Cincinnati - Slot.It Porsche GT1-98 - Scaleauto 25k SW
                  CanAm - Slot.It Lola - Slot.It Flat6 20k AW

                      • In the 11th heat, Smokeio clicked off 404 laps, and Mark ran a smoking 7.727 in red.

Team CanAm suffered more than just a guide problem. Turns out they had to replace the chassis, so they lost quite a bit time fixing that.

Team Dum Dum has gained a little cushion over Cloverleaf for 2nd. The Hazzard Boys are starting to push in hopes of catching these 2 teams.

If any of you remember the video from last year, the videographer is back again this year, and has been doing all kinds of stuff. Look for a really cool video after this race is over....

                        • Dickie thanks for all the updates, nice to have an idea of what's going on. The 404 lap count that Smokeio had is obviously exceptional. What are the average sort of lap totals per lane?

Hope everyone has over come their problems and at least having a fun time.

                          Good luck

                          • The 404 lap total was for Smokeio over a 48min heat.
Tha translates to 7.12 seconds per lap average which equals almost 17fps.
Mark recorded a fast lap of 6.727 which I believe is a new lap reord.

The track averages 123ft per lap going from 130 on the outer lane to 118 on the inner lane.
It will be very intersting to hear mark and the rest of the Atlanta biys take on their first impressions of cloverleaf.

                            • We're now almost done with heat 15. Tire wear is starting to become a big factor in how cars are handling. Just like 1:1 racing, a new set of tires will make the car run really good, and start passing cars that were passing them. Sure makes for some exciting racing.

I'll give a report of the standings in a couple more hours. Got a Marshall stint coming up, followed by a driving stint.

:eek: You're running silicone's aren't you? Guess it's the high lap totals that are doing it? Do teams have spare sets of glued and trued or do they have to use slip on tyres if they change?

Good luck with your stint and thanks for the update:thumb:
