  • Mag and No Mag Series

    SSR LL Racers,

Here are the Cars and rules for the uncoming series.

    Mag series;
Carrera Ferrari 575, Ferrari 512 BB, Corvette C6R and Mercedes or Audi DTM.
Rear Magnet removed and shod with NSR Supergip tires, which will be trued by yours truely.
No other modifications except lube, glue the chassis and bearings.
    This class will be handicaped.
The field will be divided into three levels.
First level will get a FLOOR reading or 220 grams (Cars weight included) magnetic downforce on the Magnet Marshall.
Next tier of racers will get a floor of 230 grams magnetic downforce.
Last tier will get a floor of 240 grams of magnetic downforce.
This will be a simple process of sliding the front magnet up of back in the Carrera chassis.
The rules committee will have the right to adjust magnetic downforce EITHER WAY during the series if consistant past times are outside your tier of racers.

    No Mag series;
Any Slot.it with the exception of the new 312 kits.
No other modifications except lube, glue the chassis and bearings.
Spec tire will be the Slot.it part # SIPT003 S1 silicone.
Weight may be added which I will be glad to help anyone with.

Heats will be 1 minute 30 seconds per lane over four lanes.
The Hodges point system will be used.
Series will be run over 6 weeks, only counting the best 5 times.
Tracks will be Jake's track in beautiful Cumming GA, and Wally's White Fox Raceway in just as beautiful Suwanee GA.

Final testing and tuning at my house Thursday night February 22.
Series starts the next Tuesday or Thursday at Wally's.
There will be no prizes or awards given to the winners, just a atta boy and knowing that you had a good time. Cheaters will be burned at the stake in front of Kurt Moser's house.

Final and most important rule, HAVE FUN!

    George

Cheaters are gonna be burned in front of my house on the 22nd? Cool -- it's race night at my house, so that'll give the guys a little extra something to do. I'll stop and pick up some marshmallows on the way home from work tomorrow.

Sounds like some fun racing. I'm going to have to make a special trip to GA one of these days...

Buddy's going to be busy with the squirrels, so he'll probably forget about me for a while.

Kurt coming to see you soon!!

I won the inaugrual no mag race, and the club members were stunned. Where did you get that car?? Why is it so smooth and fast?? What motor you got?? Who built it for you?? Actually, since we are now running a point series, I decided to get serious about putting a car together.

Anyway the cheating accusations started, and they said that if they were forced to burn me at the stake in front of your house, I would burn for several days!!!

The real race starts at my house on Tuesday or Thursday night.
That's when the real A+ cars come out to play.

Let's see if The Old Jaybird sings a different tune next week.
I do hope he does well though! LIKE SECOND!!!!!!!!

                ^ haha.

Jay, from what I saw and my opinion, the car is legal in my book. It definately has better handling than George's Clarion. IMO, that car is just better balanced than the others. There isn't a lot of weight behind the rear axle to sling that car around unlike our Porsches, plus you have your nifty little weight setup . As for the motor.....it seems like you just got a fast one, like I did.

....is just one of the flat black Nissan 390 Le Mans test livery cars that I had setting in the box for close to a year. I ran that chassis, old type inline, under the Clarion body. Didn't even use the V3/orange motor hypoid setup that comes with the Clarion. I ran the car in my garage, it seemed pretty quick and the rest is history. I used a Slot It car weighting tip from Luf that I have used on other cars since last June, except not to this degree. My Shell Porsche that your brother [Fate Saint] borrowed/raced was set up very similarly. George and I drove that car to victory in the SSR endurance race last June.

Slot-it setup: Put the weight on the top and sides of the motor take out the front motor pod screws, loosen the rear and let it rock. Ok J the secret is out.

                      Tony, that's just the beginning...
there's the hidden traction magnets, titanium axles, zapped/shimmed motor magnets, timed comm, shaved body, micro ball bearings, etc. "special" tire compounds and pre-treatments....

"If you're gonna cheat, cheat a lot."
                      Chad Knaus

The scary thing is, that I got around to setting up the Clarion offset chassis with the orange endbell motor, and its even faster than the "cheater car" I ran last week!!

Kurt, see ya soon, what's for dinner? - other than the front-yard Georgia Bubba BBQ, of course.
