    It's a Toy Car race ...

... and I have every confidence in the organizers and track hosts that they will do their utmost to ensure fairness.
    1. Read rules, and be certain that you understand and follow them
    2. Enter a car - or don't
    3. Enjoy
I can't believe that with the commencement of the first GPR Race three weeks away and our GPR Hosts doing their utmost to make the qualifying interesting, exciting, and informative, some of the entrants are already starting to question, argue, criticize, and so forth.

It's up to them how they run it so long as they follow the rules that exist and continue to be as fair as possible, and so far they're doing a great job in my opinion!

      Guys

I just want to support Wet Coast's sentiments.........

This is a great international race with several countries being included for the first time.

Added to this, there are some novices to Proxy racing (eg me), and maybe what I focused on in the set up needs some adjusting the next time I submit cars. I am glad I went for concourse instead!!!!

PS Rob - did you get my PM? Let me know if there is anything you can do on the Jag...... if not I am cool!!!

PPS In my books voltage is not as important as Amperage.......

      ces't la vie.....

Well from two back in the standings I'm inclined to let him go rather than get blue flagged or chrome horned for 3 minutes 20 seconds.

It may not be prototypical but it makes sense to me to group cars with a similar potential together for the head to head heats. Let the rabbits run! With any luck (and a slightly different track surface) all of us mid-to-late-pack ENY entries may also have our moment of glory at other GPR venues.

Smokeio's Capri turned many laps under 5.0, which has only been done by one other GT car. So, maybe I should restate that it is my decision to put the cars proven to be fastest together. Prior heat finishing order will be used, except in this one case. I could develop a mathematical procedure to sort the cars into the groups I want, and it would then seem like a "rule", but I am not going to bother. I'm simply putting the fast cars together, for the multi-car final heats.

The #26 Capri differs from the other cars with known problems, in that its mechanical problem is now solved, due to its breakdown during a race.

Remember, my statement of the procedures of the final race heat is tentative. Comments are appreciated. I think I know where I am going, but it is good to discuss.

I am with Wet 100 percent, The organizers are doing a great job lets leave them alone. I am sure my car would run a little better if we were running at 10v but that is my mistake (rookie) for not paying attention to the rules as posted

Actually, the race already started, so if you didn't follow the first half of number 2, Shut Up!

Atta boy Pete! I keep enquiring about his entry and he keeps saying nothing. I've seen the body of the car he intended to enter, and most of the chassis parts, but I'm beginning to think they are made of opposite polarity magnets or something...

We have a special place for cars made of opposite polarity magnets on East New York.

                      • I ran the little red Cobra this evening, and this result of 10 minutes of racing is now official:

#24 Cobra Roadster, Gascarnut, 111 laps.
                        Best Lap Time: 4.999 sec.
Offs: 4. What a fast Cobra, a beautifully handling car which is sometimes faster than the three cars ahead of it. Unfortunately it has a front end hop at the ragged edge, which is not entirely predictable, and led to four offs. If I had driven with a little more restraint I could have gotten maybe two or three more laps. Orange Endbell 21.5 V12/3 really gets this bad boy moving, in a sidewinder HRS shoehorned under the tail. Ortmanns keep it stuck to the ground, usually.

Great job, Dennis, I don't know what you learned by running on my track last summer, but it must have been good!

                        • Thanks for the update, Robert. It's down to the stragglers to shake the field up until the holiday racing action picks up. I've updated the GPR results page. From what I see there, with a little restraint the Capris of Reckless and Smokeio and Cobra of Gascarnut have the potential to move up the field. Interesting to see that the fastest cars have already travelled over 2 km. Any bets on how far the winner will travel by the end of the GPR?

It'll be interesting to see how the cars fare under race conditions. Is a fast car necessarily a good race car?

                          • I marked my track in tenths of a lap so we can run the second heat with finer increments of distance. I also found some amplified speakers to plug into the laptop, so we can hear the timer announce the end of the race, and see which mark the car is at. Unfortunately Laptimer 2000 software does not allow race time to be set in decimals of minutes; so instead of 3.33 minutes, we can run 4 minute heats, for 12 minutes of racing.

With all the drivers learning the lanes and the cars, the most drivable and fast cars will do well. Some of the cars (like my Toyota Grp 5) are very hard to drive, and will probably fall to also-ran status. Just fast isn't enough. Just drivable isn't enough. A car must be fast and drivable. In my comments on the cars, I've noted which are easy to drive, and which are not. We'll see if others find them so.

Well, that would have been good of course, but hopefully the Shoreline guys will try that approach!

Nevertheless thanks for the report, I'm glad the car works well. Cobras are not supposed to be easy to drive!
