Nice work Hoffy!....Great track you have there.

It will be interesting to see if any of the cars get near the laptime of my DUPR Porsche 908, with it's standard Fly chassis.......

    Regards

      Hi Hoffy,

Great run with the GT cars. In fact, I think this has been the best GT run in the entire GPR! Thanks for the hot lap by the way!

      Cheers,

      DV

So, there you have it. Lenny Broke came over tonight & assisted with the qualifying. He did the prototype cars & I did the GT cars. We also did all the rubbered tyred cars first, followed by the silicones. We are still deciding the best way to conduct things on the night, but I think those with Silicones will probably race last. We will also probably do a quick track clean before they run, because as the track stands now, they are suffering

Cheers & let the sledging begin!!

I would never have expected my car to be anywhere close to Rob's in the race! Well I guess that's why we race on an actually track and not "on paper"...

                  Cool Photo's - thanks!

Interesting how small my real 1/32 scale cars look amongst all those "1/32" RTR plastic things!

Just as well there's no handicap based on width or some of you "big boys" would be hurting...

You mean we're NOT racing on paper? I thought it was a computer sim. Next time, I'll build a real car!

Yours was the first silicone tyred car on the track. It was like driving a top fuel drag car on an ice rink.. I think we will have to see what transpires on the night

                            & on to the race....

Just to give you guys a run down on how it will happen:
                            • We have a list of 9 coming for the night Saturday night, 8 drivers & one standin (as long as everyone turns up). There will be 2 teams of drivers. As they are all regulars from the South City Raceways club, I will try & even up the 2 groups as close as possible (this way we have enough marshalls & everyone gets to have a drive)
                            • The cars will be split into 4 groups - P/types, non silicon - P/types Silicon - GT, non Silicon - GT, Silicon. Team 1 will drive all P/types. Team 2 will drive all GT's
                            • All non silicon cars will race first. Once these have completed, I will attempt a track clean (Going to do some experiments tonight). Then the Silicons will race
                            • All cars will race on all lanes. Each heat will be 3 minutes, making at total of 12 minutes per car in total. At the end of each heat power will be cut. Cars will be moved accross to the next lane at the point that they stop & racing will resume (if the car passes the timing beam after the power is cut, it will be placed back on the other side of the timing beam, so no laps are missed). Partial laps will be recorded (to the closest 10th) to break any tie break situations on the final heat for each car
                            • There will be a result on Saturday night/Sunday morning Australian time. I cannot promise that I will post the result immediatly, but it will be posted before Midday, CAST.
& that my friends is how we will run.

Sounds good to me Hoffy, and it's appreciated by one and all when the structure of the event gets laid out like that in advance.

Good idea I think to run the rubber and urethane tired cars prior to the silicones; frankly those of us on SuperTires & S1s/S2s etc won't have a chance on a track that's less than pristine, and preferably with frequent cleaning - though of course if that should be the case you'll want to clean the other tires equally frequently from the get go to keep things fair.

Your "top fuel drag car on an ice rink" analogy was pretty good. Ironically, I have the Slot.it Shootout cars at my track now, and the one and only entrant on P3s behaves in exactly the same way, a challenge just to nurse around the circuit and more than five seconds off the leader pace - but it's a well put together car from the Houston Scale Auto Racing Club, just got the wrong boots on.

Many thanks to you guys also, on behalf of the eleven entrants (including me) with silicone-tired cars for all your efforts to accommodate us. Also for the temporary removal of some of the rubbered in stickiness currently adhered to the Six Pines surface; we promise to put it back later ...

You **** well better If we dont have a representative from the Slot cars "Andretti's" (the O'Nuttins) in next years DUPRS, heads will roll....

Having the silly cones running around the track has also been an interesting exercise. Its nearly spring here in Aust & about 2 weeks ago it was warming & windy. This created a light layer of pollen on my track. I put a Sponge tyred womp on the track & it was spin city. I then followed this by a MJK tyred car & it was within .1 to .2 of that cars regular times....
