GPR Down Under Tassie Round

All the babies are now Tassie bound I have details and hopefully they should be here some time next week. Once they arrive I will check them and finalize the race date.
We have two DUPR rounds this month so we will be busy.

The GPR is being run on the old Shelmore track.

Shelmore Track

Lanes: 4
Length: 65ft
Lane Centres: 90 mm
Material: Routed MDF, copper tape contacts, Dulux semi gloss paint surface
Power Supply: A regulated 30 amps plus supply sourced from an old main frame computer
Timing: Self made Infra Red sensor unit with Trakmate software, Windows version

Lap record: 4.87 Brass chassis with vac formed styrene body.
Best Plastic chassis 5.3 Slot It with rubber tyres.

Slow Porsche

I think he builds his cars slow so they can be photographed during the race. Although his DUPR may have the Kangaroo paws for tyres, It bounces at each corner!

But I suppose bouncing is better than no grip like one other car.

4.87 to 5.3 seconds is really flying on a 65' track, better than 12 feet per second. On the 61' East New York wood track, the GPR cars did 4.9 at best, with a handful in the 5.0 to 5.3 range. Most were considerably slower. I am thinking the Super Tires may not hook up, but the NSR, P3's, and Ortmanns might.

I'm hoping the TSRF Ortmans and the 10/32 ratio on my Vette pan out for this race. Nice looking track btw.

Shelmore track times

The 5.3 Slot It time is the record,average times are up around the 5.5/5.6 for most Slot Its. Fly cars with weight,18,000motors and good tyres are up around the 5.9's.

The tracking of the cars indicates that they are now in some where between Melbourne and Hobart. So I should have them early next week.

It would be slower if they were coming via dog sled.

They are in Hobart now so may even have been delivered to my work today.
