Very true RL. It will also expose those cars with handling quirks that are compensated for by those with strong evil magnuts! (This from a 2008 LMP-M RAA entrant...). Seriously, the cars with less magnutism were much more fun to drive as the increased grip in the corners led to higher entrance and exit speeds and kept us right on our toes. The biggest complaint I heard all night (many times) was the inability to predict breakaway. When they go at those speeds there is no chance to recover. In order to keep the cars in one piece I believe everyone drove at about 9/10s and mayhem was minimal. At the end of the day I think everyone enjoyed the change...

Thanks, Mike; yeah that's an orange endbell motor. I am becoming a big fan of that powerplant, particularly after running the Slot.it Shootout cars recently.

Anybody looking for data on the GPR cars should keep in mind that Gascarnut's excellent Excel file (you'll find a link of course in the Results Thread for the GPR) has it all.

Just click on the Entries tab, and you have all the information you could ask for, and more. When you check out the magnetic downforce readings for the Prototypes there, the individual results from this last Scalextric Sport track race make a lot of sense.

Paul, Your car was a nice balance of magnets and handling. It had to be driven but ran well. What's in it for a motor, 21.5k?

This should mean that even less (or no) cars will work under full throttle. Is that true?
Area 51 has less magnetism than a standard Scaley track. I hope there isn't that much magnetism in these cars that they will be stick there.

While I'm not 100% sure Pete it was probably a function of having to drive the cars during the race versus just a flat out speed run. I don't remember the Q run but like Gascarnut's GT car you might have had one hot lap that was much faster than all the others. Just a thought. As to Dr Vanski's comment of rubberbanding the cars versus cranking the voltage and "racing" I can assure you the cars were driven and needed to be, even at 10 volts. A couple were so stuck they could be driven blindly on a lane or two and a couple were slow enough (combo of mag and slower motor) to allow flat out running but as a whole at 10V there was plenty of speed and quick reflexes were absolutely necessary.

    Hi guys,

I'm glad you had fun running the GPR cars. It would have been nice to have as much commentary on the race itself or cars as there was trash talk for each other. I'm a little disappointed that you guys would just rubber band the P cars instead of cranking up the voltage sufficiently to turn it into an actual race requiring more driver input but do appreciate that it's your call.

Thanks again for the results and photos, and for getting it done quickly. I sincerely appreciate all of you efforts for the penultimate GPR round. Congrats as well to the winners. I'm looking forward to the final round.

Thats correct! Dr D. I will provide you with a pair of welding goggles when you come and race at my house. Mike with that blinding flash of his camera. Shame on you bad mean Mike. I hope the Dr brings his 35mm with his halogen flood light flash at the next race and he will light up the room! We will all need shades. Bubba.
Yeah, I'm trying to take pictures and Rich is RIPPING me apart for getting the flash in his eyes. I guess he really wanted to beat Wayne! But, Rich has a digital camera with a halogen spot light on top of his head for a flash that normally leaves us blind for a week when he takes our pictures. Plus, his insults are so, so, so insulting that I can't even begin to say them on this family board.....

OK I'm in shock. Even being 'down in power' the Attic Racing 911 moved up into 15th in GT and 32 overall?? Yikes.
Awesome driving! If this keeps up I'm going to lose my GT2 credentials for RAA08
