  • Paul,

    Here you go:

I had to cobble up something here, as the RHS chassis does not handle the short wheelbase of the Cobra very easily. I turned the front uprights around and then had to fix the guide holder in with JB Weld, liberally applied as you can see. It all seems to work OK. I put the magnetic suspension in the back end of the car too:

No idea whether it works better than the stock set-up.

It has to, after all that work, right?

Thanks for the pictures Dennis, tidy workmanship as always. Fair amount of lead to settle that thing down huh?

        • Great cars Dennis........ great work...

I can clearly see that my cars will not be that competative anaginst a lot of the cars in this thread - chassis workmanship, and choice of cars - in terms of aerodynamics - will be far quicker than the choices I have made......... but I have enjoyed making them....

My prototype is virtually complete - just waiting for a few decals...... a little more testing this week and then fedexed off.......

          • A little more fiddling and it's off to the races...

            DATELINE - Winnipeg

Attic Raceways will sponsor the Quick and Dirty Rally Team of Max Schnell and Alexander Dirti in the 2007 Global Proxy Race. The privateer team will be leasing a specially prepared Porsche 911R from the Brumos Porsche garages. Driver Schnell and navigator Dirti are best known for their record setting pace on the Attic Raceways single track rally course. For this outing they will split the driving duties on the world tracks.

Max: "We would like to thank the Brumos Porsche team for the opportunity to wear the historic number 59 colors for the GPR. We will do everything in our power to build on their reputation for reliability and speed."

Alexander: "I look forward to the contributing to the driving in this grueling endurance series but I also think my uniques skills will be invaluable for the very long liaisons between stages -er- races."

            About the car:
            Fly Racing 911R
Slot it running gear with Mercedes inserts and 24k boxer geared 9:26.

            Cheers,
            Greg we need more flags...

            • Looks great, Attic, tell us more about "locally made rubber"?! Are these tires available?

              • Thanks Pete - it's a quick and dirty job that rates about a 2 on the monogram scale (or a 0.75 on the more rigorous greenman62 scale) but I really like it.

One of the guys here makes his own tires as a hobby and they work well on local tracks wood including my Artin layout. They are the only after market tires I've tried so I'm curious how they stack up globally.

I don't think they are available outside of our little slot community. I'll let him know you are interested and see what he says.

                • Wow, Terry, Dennis, Abie, Greg; you guys are building up some nice looking cars. Sometimes the ones that look the fastest are not! I am looking forward to seeing these cars in person, and driving them.

Here is a T70 at Bridghampton USRRC, 1967, Baker Racing, with Quaker State on the fender:

Dan's tires are excellent out here on the coast.

                      • Here is my GPR Prototype entry. It is the 1967 factory Ferrari 330 P4 of Mike Parkes and Ludovico Scarfiotti which took 5th at the Spa 1000K. It is an Ocar resin body on a Ninco Supra chassis with Slot it rear axle kit,Ortman rear tires, NC-5 motor, and Racer front wheels, inserts (thanks TJK), and detail bits.

Yes, I'm worried there will be no competition for us Porsche racers. How about you Ferrari boys step it up a bit, eh?

                              • You could worry about the two Schnitzer '78 Toyota Celica LB Turbos, which both I and the man of many words, B*rt Br*wn, are preparing. And repairing. And talking about.
