        • Bruce, your car is running a VERY lean, judging by the pure white inside the exhaust pipe.

But seriously, are those huge M&H Racemaster slicks on your Chevron really Slot.It P3's? They have a very tall sidewall.

How often is the scoreboard updated? I ask because neither of my entries (and I think a whole lot of others besides) show up when I click the link......

            • Robert - Yep, them are F1 P3's stretched over Kai's wheels - experimenting with tire flex to aid handling...worked surprisingly well on 2 cars so far...but it helps if it gets grip first. Anywhat, that's why the chassis and motor pod are bolted down tight...thinking with the independent fronts and those sidewalls there'll be enough flex in the turns...maybe...probably not???

              • Looking at the photo of the 312PB on the previous age, it looks like the anglewinder cutouts in the chassis have been filled with shiny Goop. It also looks like the motor comes with a "lentil" capacitor, so as not to disrupt any European TV's nearby. Is it the plan to run this car unweighted, or will it have some lead on board?

. . . He [Fernao] did spec a few parts different from stock, though the stock motor, guide, chassis, wheels, axles, body, etc. all remain. It took me less than an hour to assemble the car and it will receive minimal tuning . . .

The anglewinder cutouts have been filed for best fit and hot glued in place. They fall out quite easily otherwise - same as the Nissan 390 with this setup - and would otherwise foul the motor pod movement. This way they can be removed at a later date shouild BD choose to experiment with alternate setups when the car returns home in 2008.

This'll car will be weighted with the finest Incan lead. Stock mag swapped out for HRS racing mag, and les Pneus Ortmann and some custom graphics round out the package as per BD's specs.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. South American slot car profiteers torpedoed BD's original entry. This car with parts costs half what he would have otherwise been charged for a NINCO Cobra. I say: you can't keep a good man down.

                  • Sloter Slaughter

I spent the evening tuning BigDog's Furrie at The Coffin.

Eric and I managed to get his race prepped Sloter down to 9.0 on The Coffin. Fernao's Ferrari racked up a credible 8.5 with 7g of lead added, and trued Ortmann tires slipped onto the rear wheels. The fastest lap we cranked out tonight was an 8.4 with a number of race tuned Slot.it and NINCO cars.

I've got a few decals to add, and I'll true the front tires to lower the profile and help keep the guide a little more planted. I also did some testing with the stock and S2 tires that I'll cover in a separate post on the Slot.it Ferrari. Easy car to set up and drive.

The car managed a 6.6 with an HRS magnet installed in the rear position! Less than 200g downforce with the short lugs of the magnet facing down.

                    • Sounds like a tidy tuneup there Dr Vanski, and best of luck to Team Bigdog!

Sooner or later they will realize that the downforce ain't with them ... only 70 grams with a 21.5k motor?

Fernao, you are toast. Shoulda hired Wet Coast Engineering. Though we specialize in Porsches, of course ...

That was with the stock mag. HRS racing mag now in place.

                        • I think he said "less than 200 grams". Where did the number 70 come from?

                              • My money is being well spent!!!

All I can say is that I'm pretty happy to have contracted Dr. V's firm to prepare the Brazilian car: don't know if it'll be fast, but it surely looks as if it'll be a beautiful one!!!

Can't say how happy I am to take part in the GPR Challenge and I do hope you guys will forgive my late entry, but as Dr. V wrote, it's not easy being a slotter in Brazil!!! I did everything possible to get myself whatever car to make my inscription in time (be it a Fly, Scalextric, Ninco, etc.), but it just didn't happen! That's when Van offered himself to help me out and prepare the 312 PB for me.

In other words, it was not a premeditated move: hope you guys understand...

                                Cheers!
