                The car (ch #0858) ran three Can Am races in the Fall of 1967. It finished 8th at Laguna Seca on October 15th. It failed to finish at the subsequent Riverside or Las Vegas events. The driver was Jonathan Williams. A sister car (ch #0860) driven by Chris Amon finished 5th at Laguna Seca, 8th at Riverside, and failed to finish in Las Vegas. Both cars had previously raced in closed cockpit form at Le Mans, where #0858 finished 2nd.

                    Yes, we did but decided that brand mixing (even as mild as Sideways and Slot.it) was something for the future, possibly. Our primary objectives are cost containment and low maintenance. That's why we run almost entirely box-stock cars. We figured it was contrary to those principles to require the DP's to change to C-car gears and wheel sizes. It wouldn't do to require non-stock parts in a car, nor allow one that had a stock configuration that turned out to be the 'hot set-up' and dominated the class.

                      We George back to the Garage and our good friend (but first-time attendee) Chuck! Glad to have you both with us this week.

                      Random observations-

                      At every meet we repeatedly hear how much Nick dislikes the Blue lane. Every car in every class… he gets to Blue and he laments. Methinks he doth complain overmuch. We now have data indicating that he may not like it, but he seems to do well on it! During the Group C race, he had the fastest lap time of all participants on Blue and in the F1 86/89 race, he recorded the second fastest lap time on Blue (and finished 2nd in the race).
                      Despite suboptimal conditions, Tony continued his recent dominance of the Can Am class by finishing a discouraging 11 laps ahead of the second placed car. The margin at our last meet was only 5 and a half laps. He was racing on a 1-week tech waiver due to slightly (as in .001 or .002”) less ground clearance than required. I am informed that his team manager will rectify the problem.
                      Drew suffered mightily with what may have been the most ill-handing Thunderslot in memory. During my marshalling turn on the doughnut I observed that the car had such a severe rear axle hop that it probably had traction about 50% of the time it was in the corner. Needless to add, it de-slotted frequently. Adjustments between heats seemed to mitigate the problem somewhat, but never enough to be controllable. A rebuild is most likely on the schedule.
                      Pete's unchanged-from-last-race Can Am Lola covered 15 laps less, exhibiting a total lack of traction despite several tweeks. Tony, meanwhile, was but 4 laps short of his last performance.

                            ​One of our Group C cars. All parts are out-of-the box except for 1 pair of Slot.it 15.8 x 10.5mm rear wheels with Paul Gage Urethanes (p/n XPG 19125LM), a Slot.it screw top guide, Thunderslot lead wire, and grub screws used to set the front axle ride height.

                            No added weight.

                                The NSR F1 86/89 that holds the track records for lap time and race distance.

                                The only changes made to this car were a set of Paul Gage urethanes and a screw top NSR guide.
                                NOTE: The only problem on the car is the weak flange on the aluminum crown gear. The original on this car bent and had to be changed. Others suffered the same failure so the rules were altered to allow the stronger NSR brass hub crown to be used as a replacement.
