        “We’re Back On The Track”
        March 20, 2022

The track is in place and raceable with a new surface finish that provides much better grip at the cost of some additional tire wear. All the rules remain in place and unchanged. In celebration of events, a group of us got together to run our first race since last October and welcome our newest member… Theodore (“call me Theo”) Vincent. May he live a long and prosperous life. It will be a while before he can grip a controller, but he’s likely to be driving a Mercedes AMG before any of his friends. Hearty congratulations to parents Rachel and Brian.

The race format was changed to three lanes/three heats to allow for adequate marshal coverage. Due to the change, totals shown here have been adjusted to reflect projected 4-heat figures for comparison to previous events.

        Thunderslot Can Am
        1. Brian , McLaren Elva. 141.3 laps* & 4.608 best lap
        2. Tony , McLaren Elva. 140.0 laps & 4.882 best lap
        3. Pete , McLaren M6. 134.7 laps & 5.031 best lap
        4. Nick , Lola Mk III. 129.3 laps & 5.137 best lap
        5. Drew , McLaren M6. 124.0 laps & 5.200 best lap
        NSR F1
        1. Brian. 150.7*& 4.522
        2. Pete. 140.0 & 4.742
        3. Tony. 134.7 & 4.845
        4. Drew. 129.3 & 4.979
        5. Nick. 124 & 4.970
        Slot.it Group C
        1. Pete, Porsche 956, 136.3 & 4.946
        2. Tony, Lancia, 136 & 4.985
        3. Brian, Nissan R89, 133.3 & 5.027
        4. Nick, Lancia, 110.7 & 5.494

*4-heat projected lap total, not actual laps turned - committee to rule on record status at some point, maybe.

Current Class Lap Records (old location)
        Slot.it Group C: Pete, 4.817 & 138.9
NSR Modern GT: Brian, 4.932 & Pete, 133.6
        NSR F1 86/89: Brian, 4.522 & 140.1
        Thunderslot Can Am: Tony, 4.581 & 145.9

Many thanks to Brian for hosting, refreshments and cat isolation.

The space for the track is continuing to evolve and we're currently at a race-able state, although more improvements to the facility are sure to come.

Race report to follow. Pictures and videos from the April 3rd event showed a significant participation increase as many of the rotating and intermittent members came together for a race day.

Two classes were run during the allotted time.

              April 3, 2022

Improvements to the track continue. The latest work involved increased structural rigidity and the replacement of some opaque wooden walls with clear Plexiglas to improve the sightlines. The track surface is ‘rubbering in’ and the grip level is improving.

The turnout allowed for adequate marshaling and we ran two classes in our standard format. We only got two classes in as we had a late start and there was a lengthy discussion on electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. There followed a discussion of the automobile industry in general.

All in all, a grand time was had by all persons, dogs, and cats present.

Thanks to our host as usual. We also welcome Dan to the club and congratulate Chuck for a fine performance.

              The results…

We have 1 each in red, gray, and white on hand (the yellow one shown is Brian's). They will be COMING TO THE RACE on April 16th and I will be racing mine so we'd better have a GT race!

I say we plan on this running order for the next race night...

                  Race #1: NSR Formula 1 86/89
                  Race #2: NSR GT
                  Race #3: IROC Moslers

We'll make it an all-NSR day!

The club members of the Parker Slot Car Club were on the move this past weekend as they visited another local track. Three (2 IROC RevoSlot Toyota's and 1 ThunderSlot Can-am) races later and fun was had by all parties involved. The PSCC is looking forward to future collaboration with the yet-unnamed club. Thank you for having us!

I do not believe we have any objections. The F1 group is always a fan-favorite and I'm looking forward to the GT's on the newly-finished track surface.
