Our apologies for a delayed event in October, as the event host encountered a series of unfortunate illnesses which left the club trackless for almost a month. We successfully had a race on the 22nd and a race report will be coming shortly.

      HERE IT IS!

      "Oops! We found a magnet!"

On a fine Spring day in October, the PSCC finally took to the Jordan Circuit again. Group C, Can Am, and GT9v were scheduled. The proceedings got under way at approximately 6pm with qualifying from the US GP on the big screen. Our action was paused during Q3 thereof.

Matt put in a great performance on the Green lane as the race began. Unfortunately (and unbeknownst to Matt ), a traction magnet was found to be in the car . The tech inspector apologized for missing it and will replace his current brass clearance gauge with one made of steel . The magnet was removed and the race carried on.

The club thanks Brian and the Jordan Circuit for their hospitality.

Nos vemos en la próxima carrera.
Wir sehen uns beim nächsten Rennen.
      Τα λέμε στον επόμενο αγώνα.

A date which finds Tony in hospital, Greg quarantined, and George elsewhere, but we had a race anyway.
First up... F1 featuring the NSR F1 86/89 cars that we all like. Drew and Nick were each heading for personal bests until the red lane bit them both in turn.

          No new records were set.
Position Driver Laps Blu Yel Grn Red Best
          1 Pete 148 37 38 38 35 4.433
          2 Matt 145 36 37 36 36 4.444
          3 Brian 145 36 36 37 36 4.584
          4 Drew 142 36 36 37 33 4.624
          5 Nick 135 34 36 33 32 4.689
Second on the program was Thunderslot Can-Am. Brian took the win with new race and lap records. Informed of this by phone, Tony responded to the effect that he would reclaim the records in due course. Pete’s car proved suboptimal (to say the least) and Nick turned in a great drive to second spot.
Position Driver Laps Blu Yel Grn Red Best
          1 Brian 152 39 37 39 37 4.478
          2 Nick 141 35 35 35 36 4.711
          3 Matt 140 35 37 33 35 4.728
          4 Drew 138 34 35 34 35 4.895
          5 Pete 137 35 34 33 35 4.852
At this point we lost Drew to family obligations. We decided to use just three lanes for 9v GT and Nick stayed with us for 30 laps until called away. Brian established a new lap record.
Position Driver Laps Blu Yel Grn Red Best
          1 Brian 109 37 36 36 0 4.659
          2 Pete 107 36 36 35 0 4.749
          3 Matt 104 35 36 33 0 4.819
          4 Nick 30 0 0 30 0 5.092
The final event was Group C Slot.it cars. Only three lanes were used again. The race was extremely close throughout and a new lap record was established.
Position Driver Laps Blu Yel Grn Red Best
          1 Pete 110 37 36 37 0 4.709
          2 Brian 109 37 36 36 0 4.747
          3 Matt 108 35 36 37 0 4.762
We plan to have a special event on the 19th before the Jordan Circuit undergoes major renovations over the festive season. Watch this space.

Current track records at the Jordan Circuit.

          NSR 9vGT: Brian - 4.659 sec. & Tony - 142 laps
          Slot.it Group C: Pete - 4.709 sec. & 144 laps
Thunderslot Can Am: Brian - 4.478 sec. & 152 laps
          NSR F1: Brian - 4.366 sec. & 155 laps

Thank you for the fantastic write-up. It was, indeed, a race day! It was great to see familiar faces return to the track after the usual summer absences.

We have 3 race dates set between now and December 17th. The 17th will be our "season-ending" race before the track undergoes renovations during the holiday season. The renovations will improve racing conditions, add track length, and improve marshaling. However, that means all current race records (time and lap) will be irrelevant moving forward.

The season-ending race will involve giveaways and a unique race format. Current plans on the race format will be a LeMans-style race with each driver required to drive 4 different classes of cars (one on each lane) for an extended heat length. With the classes being GT, Can-Am, F1, and Group C, an example would be: Green Lane (GT), Blue Lane (Can-Am), Yellow Lane (F1), and Red Lane (Group C). This would be purely up to the driver's choice to decide the order used. The only caveat under consideration, at the moment, is the GT's are run on 9v (instead of the track-standard 10v), which means we may need to swap the GTv9 class for a IROC class. This will be decided by the member racers over the next 2 race weekends.

For the pictures from the Nov 12 race week:

              December 4th, 2022

A day with a rotating group of racers. 6 racers were able to attend throughout the day while two racers were, unfortunately, not able to attend due to health reasons. We look forward to seeing everyone again together soon. The track was a bit slower than normal, so no new time records are set.

First race was the NSR F1 race. A tight race throughout the field as the cars stretched their legs and cleaned off the track.
Driver Laps Lane 1 Lane 2 Lane 3 Lane 4 Fastest Lap
              Brian 152 39 37 38 38 4.456
              Pete 151 38 38 39 36 4.429
              Matt 147 38 37 36 36 4.503
              Drew 141 36 36 34 35 4.560
              George 105 27 26 25 27 5.773
The second race was the Thunderslot Can-Am class and was Eric's entrance to the race program. And what an entrance, with an immediate podium spot. Brian's car remained dominant from the previous race, however the track's slowness proved to be real as no new records were set.
Driver Laps Lane 1 Lane 2 Lane 3 Lane 4 Fastest Lap
              Brian 150 38 38 38 36 4.542
              Eric 146 37 36 36 37 4.607
              Matt 141 36 35 35 35 4.775

              Drew 134 33 33 34 34 4.918
              George 119 30 30 29 30 5.256
At this point we lost Drew and George to family obligations. The racers promised to be on their best behavior so we ran the "track button" from the driver panel. We ran all 4 lanes and a new record was set for overall lap total!
Driver Laps Lane 1 Lane 2 Lane 3 Lane 4 Fastest Lap

Heats were 5 minutes each. Here are some interesting facts:

F1 was used on green for 5 out of 7 heats.
Can-am was used on Yellow for 5 out of 7 heats.
GT was used on Red for 4 out of 7 heats.
Group C was used on Red for 3 out of 7 heats.

If classes were broken out by lap totals, here is the podium for each (although with how cars are not moved between heats, it is possible that lap totals are not 100% accurate as someone starting directly behind the line would effectively get a "cheap" lap):

                GT:
First: Matt / Tony tied with 57
                Second: Brian with 56
                Third: Pete with 55
Fastest Time: Matt with a 5.022!

                Can-Am:
                First: Brian with 62
Second: Eric / Matt with 60
Third: Dave / Tony with 58
Fastest Time: Tony with a 4.591!

                F1:
First: Brian / Tony with 64
                Second: Pete with 62
                Third: Matt with 61
Fastest Time: Pete with a 4.472!

                Group C:
                First: Tony with 63
                Second: Pete with 61
                Third: Brian with 57
Fastest Time: Pete with a 4.750!

The 7 racers ended the night with a NSR GT 9v race. The track condition was a bit colder than expected, so no new records were had, although it was quite the close race!
Driver Laps Lane 1 Lane 2 Lane 3 Lane 4 Fastest Lap Avg. Lap
                Tony 141 34 37 35 35 4.773 5.081

We also want to welcome back Tony to the track after his recent health issues. He certainly made an impact by winning both races!

We hope everyone enjoyed the race and can't wait for the next event. The track is closing, effectively immediately, for the holidays as the track undergoes modifications to improve racing in 2023.

                      ...A New Beginning...

As with many plans, they often take longer than expected. Track modifications that were scheduled for late December ended up going over budget and over schedule, like any good project should do. With the help of club members, the track modifications were successfully completed through phase 1. The phases, as follows:

Phase 1: Move and route adapter track sections. Re-assemble track so that it is useable for race nights.
Phase 2a: Route curtain/run-off/skirt sections for all corners to reduce car rubbing on walls for the outside lanes.
Phase 2b: Add additional walls to the track area to section off track for convenience and cleaning between races.
Phase 3: I'm sure we'll come up with something else to do next!

With "The Jordan Circuit", a PSCC Member Track, undergoing a layout change, there is a need for the circuit's name to be modified. The committee is considering all possibilities and will notify the public once a consensus has been achieved.

                      Layout change:
                      [Picture To Be Added]

All original track pieces have been maintained, with only the need for one adaptor piece to be routed between corner 2 and the donut. Track length has been increased by 5 feet (and anticipated lap times by half a second based on a very, very brief and dusty practice session).

With the track ready for use, the first track event was scheduled for 3/11/23. As the event is a "grand opening" of sorts, we ended up with a record 9 racers. Nine! We had a new racer join us, Gina, who brings with her a racing pedigree from years past. We're excited to have her join us on-track and hope to see her again soon.

The event started off boisterous and joyous as it has been three months since the last meeting, which is good as the track wasn't nearly as happy to have new racers. The dust from the construction processes left a thin film which left traction much-to-be-desired. Through tireless effort by the members, the track was cleaned and made ready for event #1...

The first race was Group C, which we believed to be the "safest" bet as the class had the lowest traction requirements and slowest motor spec. The racers had a (relatively) uneventful race with Pete securing the first victory on the new track layout by half a lap.

The second race was F1. Cars and wings went flying as the on-track excitement proved more-than-sufficient for all attendees. As the dust settled (proverbially, the track was quite clean by this point!), Pete secured his second win of the day.

Given Pete's success on the new layout, it was agreed we may need to change the layout again to prevent further, similar results (just kidding, congrats Pete!).

With the new track layout comes new Records:

                      NSR 9vGT: Yet-To-Be-Raced
                      Slot.it Group C: Pete - 5.084 &131 Laps (Previous record, for comparison: Pete - 4.709 sec. & 144 laps)

Here is the full field of F1 cars from our last race. With the exception of the preference for Lotus-branded cars (and rightfully so), there was a very diverse field.

Here is the track layout progression (not to scale and with artistic liberties taken, as the new track [right] is longer by 5 feet):

I loved the new track layout. Can't wait for the next race meeting.

Some rapid arithmetical calculations indicate that the Group C record will shortly fall to 4.8 - 4.9 sec. and the lap total to somewhere in the mid 130's. F1 to 4.5 - 4.6 and 142ish. Probably in the next two race meetings (not allowing for track improvements).

                            PS: Welcome to Gina!

Agreed on the improvements, as I think there is still some "construction dust" interfering with traction and overall lap times. Not to mention everyone being a bit rusty from a 3-month sabbatical! We shall see what happens during the next race...which is scheduled for 3/25!
