    Pin is angled backwards about 2 degrees (lower end trails upper end). I used the red plastic tube from a WD-40 spray can, with a length of worn out Slot.It-size Allen wrench pressed through. The wrench material is hardened steel, used for its strength.

    Braids work best when angled toward the track as shown. Front wheels carry some weight.

    We shall see! Car gets sent out tomorrow to Mr Bugs.

      Believe it or not, in this day of digital imaging, I had a load of black and white film in my trusty Nikon 35mm camera. It's been in there for over a year, and I figured it was time to finish up the roll and maybe put all my film gear up on ePay.

      One comment I'd like to make about the magnet cars in general is that Reckless' adjustable sensitivity PM controllers made the mag car race into a really fun contest. During qualifying, the on-off nature of some of the cars made them a chore to finesse around The Coffin. Some of you guys picked some pretty hot motors for your mag missiles, with a really narrow power band. The red can motors were the most notorious in this regard. The adjustable sensitivity let me soften the throttle response in the range necessary to hustle these cars around the technical sections, and lucky for you guys The Coffin had the current and voltage to move these cars out in a hurry when it mattered.

      One thing I'll walk away from this contest with is an appreciation for non-mag cars. They are a lot easier to drive, and a lot more fun.

      Looking forward to the rest of the RAAces this season!

          Austin, as Robert hasn't incurred any penalty for substantively changing the weight of the car, may I assume that when they arrive at my track I'll be able to replace the magnet in my 956 for one that works properly without any problems?

              You guys fight it out amongst yourselves, eh? I have no further comment on my car. As for your car, I believe your magnet works fine on your track.

                • I hope that pin guide trips my optical "in the slot" sensors! The TSRF blade guide works but I have not tried a pin guide.

                      Indeed it does, almost invisibly you might say. Though I'm not sure if it's in the best location.

                      • that wheel hop in my Bugatti.............could that be seen as damage in need of repair? I did have three of the HRS front ends on hand. The one with the cut posts, it's the one on the Bugatti, was meant for my Ferrai 512BBLM. Can I fix it? Please? or have it fixed on sight? I'll send the part to where the car is. Penalty?...............beeeeeg deeeel.

                          Yes but Trebor is Robert backwards. No laps for Trebor, every lap for Robert!

                          On the other hand, maybe the pin needs a black tape trailing flag wrapped around it. This works on pin guides.

                              • The Marcos has been repaired. I replaced the front frame crossmember with a new one about three times thicker, and built a pin guide in the interest of durability and simplicity. I finally trued one rear tire correctly, getting rid of some annoying vibration back there. The car runs better than ever, and I was able to reduce the lead ballast, so the car weighs 87 grams (used to be 93 grams).

                                I have no idea what this is worth in penalty points, but I think I am so far behind it won't make much difference!
                                Sorry I didn't see this post............ I am going to look up the rule book.
