  • Round #5 - Road Canton - Race Report

I picked up the cars last night from Cloverleaf, my plan is to do a bit of testing and race early next week...

The rules allow for minor adjustments (please review), I received a few messages about doing a couple of minor fixes based on previous race results, therefore....If you want me to look at your car send me a PM and we can discuss what can be worked on within the rules....

(I hope this doesn't cause to much grief)

aside from that let's have some fun!!!

    HI All,

I did some qualifying tonight with the hope of racing on Tuesday if possible. Need some confirmations on racers, but worst case we should have results from the race before the weekend.

    Road Canton Information:

Link below is an image of the track

    http://gerdingfasttracks.com/wordpre...9/DSC_2328.jpg

Track was Designed by Wicked Mini, Gary Gerding and Oscar Racing
    Installed: Jan 2015
    Length: 72'
    Voltage: 11.3
Qualifying was done on the Green Lane
My controller settings did not change.
    GT2 ran first
A very good lap is in the 5.4 range
    10 Lap Qualifying run

    Results - (fastest lap time):

    GT2

    Audi1 #23 - 5.919
    Arroldn #61 - 5.987
    Aloha #21 - 6.396
    Spiritracer #3 - 6.711

    GT1

    Oscar Racing #17 - 5.496
    Steeveew #28 - 5.674
    WCRacer #34 - 5.965
    BumosRSR #99 - 6.107
    Maddick43 #24 - 6.165
    Austin #50 - 6.253

    P

    Jscott111 #1 - 5.316 (on the Pole)
    Steeveew #64 - 5.466
    Audi1 #42 - 5.610
    Austin #9 - 5.761
    Maddick #15 - 5.789
    Arroldn #9 - 5.843
    Budslots #3 - 5.866

Comments were made during the last race at Cloverleaf, so just a few notes below...

The two fastest cars had inline motors....
I didn't try to really push any car during qualifying, my goal was to make sure when we race there won't be any major issues.
The only car which concerned me was Budslots, the tape under the car to be removed to get around the track, it was coming off....

Please let me know if you have any questions...

    Good Luck to everyone!!!!

Well, Austin is the RAAce Director, so his call.

My advice (whether you actually want it or not ) would be to simply to insist that anybody sending in PMs about their cars and adjustments put them in the public thread, while you reply likewise about what you've done. Should make everybody happy, and less stressful for you as the host.

      Oscar Racing #17 - 5.496
      Steeveew #28 - 5.674
      WCRacer #34 - 5.965
      BumosRSR #99 - 6.107
      Maddick43 #24 - 6.165
      Austin #50 - 6.253
I'm starting to think they should just plant a on my forehead.

Also wondering why I switched to sidewinder, this time?

Keep up the reports, don't be put off in there isn't much conversation; it's the height of summer so anybody in their right mind is probably hanging outside ...

Jscott111 and I ran Round 5 of the RAA 2106 Proxy last night....Results as follows:

        Arroldn #61 - 90 laps 55 ft
        Aloha #21 - 86 laps 42 ft
        Spiritracer #3 83 laps 8 ft

        GT1

        BumosRSR #99 - 92 laps 62 ft
        Maddick43#24 - 91 laps 46ft

        P

        Jscott111 #1 - 105 laps 68ft
        Audi1 #42 - 102 laps 70ft
        Steeveew #64 - 101 laps 43ft
        Arroldn #9 - 95 laps 17ft
        Austin #9 - 95 laps 3 ft
        Maddick43 #15 - 94 laps 37ft
        Budslots #3 - 94 laps 5ft

The track rewards cars with good grip, good braking, and smooth gearing. Some of the big can rpm motors and angle winders pods struggle a bit. I was surprised that the inlines did as well as they did...

        Comments from Scott and I:

Audi1 #23 GT2 was a car both Scott and I liked a lot, it was very smooth with great tires. When we run a scalextric series we both wanted this car.

Steeeveew #64 Avant Slot was a fun car to drive, even more of a surprise was the slip-on tires.

Austin #50, this car did not qualify very well, but it just kept running laps and pulled out a podium finish in GT1.

Maddick43 #15 had great acceleration but the motor was just too much for the track. If the race was a straight line it would have won hands down...

We had a fun time running this proxy and we wanted to thank everyone for participating.

I think it just takes a few laps to get the hang of it.

                    I want a rematch!

Congrats to the podiumites, and to our hosts for uh hosting and racing and like that.
Awesome performance by Oscar's GT1 car, beating all but one of the P cars as well as the rest of us.

Well to be truthful the car was tested and tuned on that track, so I hope it had a good outing....

We heard a clicking on The WCR car, at first we thought it was the low front end, but the more we listened Scott was thinking it might be the gear rubbing the interior...We hesitated to take anyone's car apart to fix it unless we were asked.

Thanks for letting me know. It's the stock interior, so a weird thing. If you don't think it's affecting the performance then probably best I wait and see. Might be the driver trying to escape ...

He tried to bail, but with the race being in Detroit he thought otherwise
