Ok, here we go, the Fine Nine! It was Recce day at the Pen so drivers were out examining the course, making notes, checking the other dudes out. We have some photos from the day.

Kinda confused where this "Open" proxy came from...did I miss something? Seems to be mostly PNW guys entered.

It was started in a small way a few months ago by Quickcars. Not surprising it pretty well flew under the radar. And of course us NW guys are tight-knit-wits.

From the "1/32 Scale Slot Cars" subforum:

Anyone/everyone is welcome to enter. Monte, Rico and I tend to play in the same sandbox a lot- no PNW slant to it. We just love our bowling trophies... I don't think I built a contender though.

It may catch on like the Sprite Proxy and become a "real" event. Join in next time!

It is also being represented on a different forum site and most of the more current posts are there.

Is there another slot forum I need to join and pay attention to now??? When I am supposed to ever do anything?

Haystack:The time frame for this event was very short. The question was posted on the 12 April and the postage date was 15th May, I think, so vertically no time for any overseas entrants to build and deliver a car.
                    Maybe next year!

All, this proxy was handed over to me and in doing so, while I tried my best to get everything lined up and make sure I didn't miss any entries, some things were overlooked. Please see post #49 in this thread for the final rules, track hosts, etc. http://www.slotcarillustrated.com/po...t=70865&page=4

Also, this proxy was started by Quickcars across two different forums, and as such, both forums will be updated as the proxy progresses. The majority of the entrants are regulars on another forum and thus that is why it seems it is getting more attention there. I will do my best to update everyone here with the status of the proxy, so stay tuned...

Please post any questions, etc. in the thread I linked above and not here. We need to keep this thread on track, or rather in the slot.

And now back to Race #1!

Racing day draws near, so how about a little status. I've been through the cars, I've given them some shakedown runs just to make sure they all go around the track and here are a few observations:

                        The Damage Report

JCIS4ME - car was strapped down to a nice plastic plate tight enough that it arrived with the rear axle popped out of both bushings. Had to open the car to snap the axle back into place. Runs fine now.

SHOGUNDRG - the wheels would not turn out of the box. As it turned out, the driver's side mirror had snapped off and lodged itself into the gears. May have ruined the crown trying to turn the wheels, found to be missing two teeth. Replaced with gear of same size/mfg. Runs fine now.

WAYTOOMUCHINTOTHIS - far be it for me to tell anyone how to build a car and I have proxy results to back that up. Nevertheless this is one weird body attachment setup. If I understand this, the rear is held on by Velco and the front by some tape that has failed so that when I lifted the car out of the box by the body (of course) the entire front of the chassis came loose from the car. I pressed it back together. My guess is that when a marshal tries to re-slot the car it could be quite the challenge. Please advise what we do here and if I am off-base on the mount system...

The shakedown seems to show SADCO Racing and Reek455 with the cars to beat here. As always, shakedown pays just what qualifying does, zip. First to worst was within a second.

We'll run the race on Sunday with a plan for two sets of two minute heats per car. We'll use six different drivers, three per set.

Questions, comments, I'll be right here.

It's apparent from the difference in times from first to worst, that Sunday could be very interesting!

Looking forward to the race report.

That is shocking that I may be that close to everyone else. I built the car out of parts and pieces I had laying around doing nothing, and sent it in as a development entry for TLOR. It's encouraging that it might be keeping up but for now I am assuming that I am at the back of this parade.

Still very much looking forward to seeing how things play out!

                            On with the games...

Qualifying has been run. Each car was given 10 laps on the center lane against the clock.
