    Updated shreadsheet

So, my kids helped me figure out the spreadsheet, so it is sorted according to the total points column, updated and all on one page. I hope I remember how to repost it when I update it the next time. You can find it attached to post #8 above.

      SPR #3 - Laguna Douga

Today was race day in the Sprite Proxy Racing series. We trundled off to Fotodoug's place in Kitsilano, a very nice area of Vancouver close to the beaches on English Bay.

After a bit of practice to familiarize two of the drivers with Doug's latest track, we started with the HP cars. We ran them in the same order as the Targa qualifying.

Laguna Douga is a super track with good Sprite laps in the 9 second range. It has some squeezes and also some twisty bits that can catch up a driver. There is also a corkscrew (of course, it's Laguna) that has a pesky little kink half way down the hill.

      The HP results

      Car # - Name - Total Laps - Position - Points

      15 - Mether05 - 56.58 - 1 - 10
      27 - Pete Shepherd - 56.08 - 2 - 9
      17 - Phil Kalbfell - 55.62 - 3 - 8
      98 - JT Previa - 55.15 - 4 - 7
      7 - Doubl-B - 54.54 - 5 - 6
      44 - Retro Racer 44 - 54.23 - 6 - 5
      23 - Alexis in Greece - 53.84 - 7 - 4
      5 - Charlesx - 49.62 - 8 - 3
      71 - Black3sr - 44.83 - 9 - 2
      33 - MNewns - 44.61 - 10 - 1

The Fastest Heats (For Bragging Rights Only)

      Doubl-B - 19.77 laps
      Mether05 - 19.46
      Pete Shepherd - 19.08

      Now to the SPX class-

      39 - JT Previa - 60.85 - 1 - 8
      63 - Brain - 60.30 - 2 - 7
      9 - Charlesx - 59.46 - 3 - 6
      77 - Phil Kalbfell - 56.92 - 4 - 5
      44 - Retro Racer 44 - 56.61 - 5 - 4
      71 - Black3sr - 56.00 - 6 - 3
      8 - Vtecfour - 55.62 - 7 - 2
      13 - MNewns - 51.69 - 8 - 1

      Fastest Heats-

      JT Previa - 20.96
      Brain - 20.53
      JT Previa - 20.46

Many thanks to Fotodoug for letting us race on his track, and also for being one of the drivers. Thanks also to Don (TR1250) and Dan (Vtecfour) for being the other drivers. Luf was unable to join us today, so there will be no video from this one, but Dan took lots of pics and will no doubt be posting them.

The two repaired cars ran well and will be raced on the Targa tomorrow evening. I will complete that SPX report and post a new spreadsheet after that is completed. The starting order for the next event will be a reverse order of the overall standings.

      Stay tuned,

Hi Retro Racer 44. Thanks for getting results up. The spreadsheet is correct but you did not record me in Post 13. Think you have as Black3SR as he appears twice.

After 3 rounds it is all on for HP for first/second between Phil and DoubleB. JT is way out in front now in SPX with the close competition being for second/third between Brain and myself.

Long way to go yet. Best of luck to all. Organizers etc keep up the good work

          Regards Chas Le Breton

            Confusion

You're right, Chas, sorry about that. I think i have it right now. You were 2nd with 7 points, Black3sr was 7th with 2 points and I got confused in my hurry to post it. Glad I had it right on the spreadsheet.

I think the next time I do a proxy, I will just post the order of finish and make it like a golf leaderboard. The lowest total score at the end is the winner.

Hey. I paid good money for those extra points!! Maybe I should have spent it on building better cars.

oh, yea! this is going to be some close competition in SPX. Now with Charlesx pulling out a top postion at Dan's track! Should be some good racing coming up....some other cars are very close behind.... and it will be exciting to see how this thing shakes out!. Thanks Retro for posting the info.

Great to see both classes being hotly contested. Apart from top groups however there are some good races within races. Retro and Phil are having a good battle in SPX while even further down the ranks JT, Alexis and myself are having our own little contest in HP.

                      All adds to the interest.

                        SPR Round 5

So, we are a GO for Round 5 tomorrow afternoon at Perry's.

We will be using his Rocket track. Yes, he has two. The original intent was to use the Canyon, but since he rebuilt them, the Canyon has a tight hairpin and an unsuspected kink that can roll even the widest, well planted car. The Rocket is a smooth, fast three laner with no squeezes. Perfect to see if our little hot rods can stretch their legs a bit. Good top end will definitely be an advantage. We will not be re-qualifying, but rather run them in the reverse order of the latest standings.

Don's Attic is expected to go sometime next week-end, and then the cars can be packed up and sent to Ontario (Canada, not California)

We've almost done half of the races in this proxy series, eh?

Sounds great and thanks for advice of rest of BC races.

                          Best of luck to all.

Any chance of a photo of these two tracks.

                          Regards Chas Le Breton (Charlesx)

                            The Rocket Has Landed

The race on Perry's Rocket happened today, and as suspected, it was fast.

The results showed how different some cars can be when given room to go fast, and there were some changes in the order of finish that affected the overall standings. (spreadsheet updated in post #8 above)

                              Perry's Rocket - Additional Stats

In addition to the order of finish in the previous post, there were some additional statistics that you might be interested in.

In HP Class (for Bragging rights only)

The fastest heat total was DoublB at 26.4 That is an average of 6.8 seconds per lap.
                              followed by Phil at 26.1
                              then Alexis at 25.3

                              In SPX Class -

Fastest heat total was Phil at 29.9 That is an average of 6.0 seconds per lap
                              followed by JT at 28.7
                              and JT again at 28.3

Considering that Phil's hot heat works out to 11 ft/sec which equals 7.5 mph. In 1/32 scale speed, that would be 240 mph, and that is an average speed over an actual distance of 1973.4 feet.

Perry's track is 66 feet around and has the feel of a fast commercial track. From here we go to Don's Attic Track that is a tight technical three laner that will test the handling and drivability of each car rather than top end speed. This race is tentatively scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Well done Retro Racer 44 for running round so efficiently and for quick results.

Congrats to Phil for HP win. There was little to separate the top three. Was surprised my car came 5th but clearly Solabotic motor was able to stretch its legs despite wrong gearing.

Fully expected JT to take out SPX as it seemed like his kind of track but congrats again to Phil for a very very close second. His best of series and proof perhaps all is not lost yet. These two were miles ahead of the rest of us.

See I got tipped off podium for first time in SPX so good on you Retro Racer 44.

Whole affair continues to get better and closer all the time. Look forward to next round at weekend.

                                Regards
