    MG/Jeff/Roger,

Are you guys setting up a special rate at any of the nearby hotels?
Close hotels would be great so we could sneak a quick nap or two during the race.
It also would be nice if all the teams could locate at one place. We could talk trash over breakfast.

That's why I'd asked if anyone was bringing wives and/or girlfriends...the next question being, where were you staying. Mary Ann wanted to go swimming and do "girl stuff" with them.

Roger's hosting a major race with out of town visitors next weekend. Let me see what hotels were the most popular and best value...with a pool.

But you've got the right idea....it'll be much more fun if we stay at the same place.

    - Jeff

We didn't want to cut it too close with the hotel reservations (risk of rooms not being available) so we've already booked rooms at the AmericInn. Hopefully it's not too far from the event venue. Has a pool and rates are reasonable - about $70/night (AAA). George - you might qualify for AARP rates which might be lower??

      :-))

          Hotel Details

Most of the hotels appear to be about 9 to 13 minutes away from the track, per Yahoo Maps.

The AmericInn in Bolingbrook is a 13 minute drive, mostly freeway. At $79 their rates are comparable to what you'd spend most anywhere else...and by the time you factor in their complementary breakfast which is much better than average, an indoor pool and whirlpool, it's one of the better deals around. Mary Ann and I stayed at their Montgomery, IL property during the iHobby show and were very pleased.

If you try to go cheaper, you can find a Super 8 for as low as $50 but I didn't bother seeing how far away from the track it was, nor how the neighborhood was either. If you try to go upscale, you can find Hyatts, etc. on priceline in the $80 to $90 range but will probably end up spending much more by the time you pay for breakfast.

With well over than 15 rooms still available as of this writing, let's make the AmericInn the "Offical Hotel of The Chicago 24". That's where Mary Ann and I will be staying also.

Here are some other hotels in the area, courtesy of MG Brown's posting on OWH. While some of them are only about half the distance from the track, they save just 3 to 4 minutes in travel time.

The AmericInn located in Montgomery (near old track location) was very nice. Steve, are you guys staying in that one or the Bolingbrook location? I hope the latter......

                    try priceline

priceline.com and name your own price

pick 3.5 stars and bid $40 a night for the

Lisle - Naperville - Warrenville area.

you should get the Lisle Hyatt about 3 miles from the track.

I've met the Juice lady. I think she has a problem with brown people.
