  • Hitting the Wall...

I've been doing some hard thinking about the TLOR series. I don't think it is going to be practical to continue the series unless I get more entries... at least half a dozen more cars will make The Last Open Road Proxy happen. I'm throwing out this new deadline to see if anyone else will come through with an entry.

The new deadline for TLOR 2017 is September 1, 2017.

I will be happy to return the cars that have already been sent in along with your entry fees, unless you are happy to let them languish in the temperature controlled Greenman62 paddock. I thank you all for your support for the series and I sincerely apologize for the delays to date.

Please contact me via PM and tell me how I should proceed.

I'd prefer my car was raced in the intent it was built for.

Keep mine for as long as you need it.

Summer ambition should find drivers for my MGA and TR3. Building the chassis for the '57 TR might not. Got my wire inserts finally.
        TR3 is #88, need a # for the MGA....Testa Rossa is Belgian #59.

          Okay folks... who's doing what?

          Just checking here...

I've heard from Ramcatlarry, Alcopa and Kidvoltage... anyone else planning to enter the fray?

I'll have a white 300SL with a red nose for you at Odd Thurs this week.

Also, if you had an eligible motor for the car and you feel like getting rid of it, please bring it. I currently have an older BWA NC1 installed and it's a dog... I think I'm bringing a butter knife to the prison yard rumble.

Chris, that car uses an 18K motor.

I've got the H&R Hawk in mine. The small bore cars are running the 13K motors.

IPS is where the big bore cars are using the BWA motors.

Mitch is not quite correct... Here are the specs for motors in the cars:

                      Class A Choose from a list of six motors. These are around 14,000 rpm @12v: BWANC1, BWA 050, M/T-1, M/T SL-1, Ninco NC-1, Ninco NC-8.
Class B. Choose from a list of 5 common available motors These are around 18K @12v: Scalextric/Scalextric Sport standard FC-130, Carrera E200, Fly black-striped, FC-130, Pioneer “small and large p” Typhoon, H&R Racing “Hawk” Motor, Slotit SP08 and "Teal" endbell motors. Motor RPMS will be checked by Dyno, any motors found to be out of compliance (too fast)will be disqualified

Out of curiosity, does your Dyno check the motor itself, or is it checking wheel speed? If it's checking wheel speed is there a formula to compensate for different gearing options?

Absolutely... The instructions include the following:

Include a list of specs (as seen below) so we may describe each car which we will photograph for all participants on SCI.
                          Car:
                          Chassis:
                          Motor:
                          Gears and Ratio:
                          Wheels:
                          Tires:
Specifying the gear ratios gives me the multiplier so I can figure out motor RPMs based on the RPMs the wheels are turning... for example:

Car A, a "tiddler" (small bore), turns 4784 rpms at the wheel X 3:1 (gear ratio)= 14,352 motor rpms. I'll allow a certain amount of "slop" (+/-10%) to remain "in spec". This should allow for the normal variance with these cheap motors.

Well crap, I know I've got another Hawk sitting around somewhere... I'll try to get it changed out before Thurs. Might stand a chance then. Not sure how I got stuck on the lower spec motor.

                              This changes everything!
