  • Ultimate Racer with Arduino

    Has anyone used an Arduino with similar code to Race Coordinator to run on Ultimate Racer? I found a GitHub code that will allow the Arduino to act as a PS gamepad. I was hoping to import that library easily and use the Rec Coordinator code as well. Any help?

    I would think that UR would still need to communicate w the Arduino just like Race Coordinator does.

      Yes the Arduino would need to communicate with Ultimate Racer but the issue is that UR30 does not have an option for Arduino. It only has four Phidget controllers and three USB Game pads.

      Talks about having the Arduino seen as a PS3 Gamepad. I was hoping to pull in that code and append to the current Arduino Sketch that works with Race Coordinator. There are some variables that need adjusting.

          I was wondering why you were interested in using an Arduino board. Is that because it is a cheap option or because you need to control the lanes individually for pitstops and the like? Be aware that there can be RFI problems if you use an Arduino or Phidget board.
          If you don't need individual lane control Trackmate hardware is not prone to RFI problems and works with RC software.

            No specific reason I am using an Arduino except I use the start lights and the two detectors using Race Coordinator. I like the interface better on UR3 and was wondering if the code was ever used for an Arduino. I did not want to use a parallel or serial interface as they are starting to disappear from PC's. Plus gave me time to tinker with a new light bridge and played with the three types of lap detectors, IR, Dead and a slot sensor.

              Just wondering, did it work out for you? I heard a similar idea from my friend. I don't know what to do, either to change his mind or to support him.

                No luck, from what I can tell it may take some rewriting of the code using the standard Race Coordinator code and then import and adjust the code to use the Arduino as a Game Controller to use UR3. I just played more with RC and got it to do what I want. Still playing with the fuel curves though
