  • Next race is next Thursday night. Can you say pit stops!
If we have another big crowd, we will do more team racing switching drivers at fuel stops.

I have been tuning some magnet cars for when we team race kids and adults, goal is for the cars to turn laps in the 5.7-5.8 sec range and not come off the track. Comes down to traffic and fuel strategy.

    • Big turnout last night, we have some new guys coming in, our group is growing finally.
Raced a little bit of everything, but I an really starting to think the 124's are the way to go. Not only are they a lot of fun, but I think less experienced racers do better with them than they do with 132.
May bump up the schedule and race again in 2 weeks, too cold out to do anything else!

      • Looks like D1XX racing is on for 2-06-14 Thursday night! Looks like the usual plus some returning new drivers and one or two more hopefuls. Now if only we could get that GoPro hooked up to something......

        • Racing this thursday feb 27 at the Green Monster.
We have moved most of the communication to a Facebook group, but I will keep posting on here in case there are some slot racers out there looking for a place to race.
After sputtering along for awhile, the group is growing pretty fast, and it is a very good group of people, we have been having a lot of fun.
Racing Carrera Digital, 132 and 124.

          • Can't wait until we get a chance to make one of them. We miss you guys (and gals), and hope to be able to make one of the Thursday night races soon. Looks like we may be here for a few more months if not till December (depending on contract negotiations).

Have fun, post pictures and keep me updated on what type cars and "rules" you come up with. I still like working on our cars. I got another 1/24 Ferrari so if we do adult and kids, me and Jesse can have the same car with different set ups.

            • We had nine "adult" racers last night, perhaps a record! We wind up doing longer races with a co-driver so everyone gets some track time. It's looking like we will need to schedule a track session for kids, not all come at the same time and that gets frustrating to the two or three that do show up.

              Classes are defining themselves.
D132-Carrera modern GT, Carrera DTM (newest style looks quickest), Open 1/32
D124- Carrera modern GT and Carrera classic sports/prototype.
I'm still going to promote a Kids Carrera COT class.

Chris, you are missed..... even if you do have a box full of Ferrari's

              • Picked up 6 COT bodies off of eBay. Shipping and cost of the bodies were $37 out the door. That's $6 and change for each shipped. Gonna turn a couple of them to some throw back cars in the near future (bored at home at night), maybe not another Hooter's (unless I can find some one to print the decals or just for Gary) car but some classics instead.

Glad to see it growing, I am trying to pick up some more cars (1/24) so it should get interesting. Looking at a Corvette and Ferrari set now. I am bound and determined to get my Ferrari car(s) running like a smooth silk cloth. I now have all the 575's in 1/32, next thing is to get chips for them and then silicones for the rear.

                • The 124's are a lot of fun and I think they are easier to drive for the less experienced. We are trying different formulations, but trying to keep it simple and the goal is for all the cars to be real close in speed, which most are right out of the box.
We have been running front mag/stock tires with good success, unless your tires are real old. been using a lubricant on them to soften them up.
We have silicones, but with no mag, they are a little bit slower and use up more track which is not a good thing with 124's. I have just ordered some urethanes for my 124 Vette to see if they are a good replacement for hard stock tires.
We now have 5 classic Lemans cars in the group and they are great!

Eric has suggested adding an interior light on the COT's so they know when to pit for fuel.

The other night only one car in the heat had lights..... we all pitted when they did......

                      • So, it looks like I've not updated here in awhile. We now have three tracks in our rotation, Dirtriders, mine and another casually run attic track. I'll update the header to Foothills Scale Slotcars when I learn how.

My track is routed wood using the Carrera digital system. It's also setup to switch over to a two lane analog track. The attic track is Carrera digital plastic.

Here's a picture of mine, Thunder Road. I recently heard a youth racing night and I had twelve racers using six evenly matched Carrera NASCAR COT cars. Dave Kennedy of Carrera of America donated banners and prizes.

                        • This is a video from a recent gathering at the routed wood track, Thunder Road. I made a camera car, looks like I need some more work to do.

                          • After a much too long layoff, we broke out the Carrera D124 cars. Plenty of fun and action. We had a special guest, Ed Magner was working in Knoxville and came to join
