  • Carrera 4 Lane Layout

This is a 72ft Carrera 4 lane layout to run counter clockwise. I used all the turns available 1/30, 1/60, 2/30, 3/30 and 4/15 to make things interesting. I need to build a bridge, install guard rails, fence, secure track to table as it tilts for storage. Table is a 8ft x 16ft. Please view and give me your thoughts.

I wanted to make sure you know that you've made a paperclip, not a figure-8. Rather than making the lanes of equal length, you've doubled the difference between them as compared to an oval. Your inside lane will be considerably shorter, and therefore faster, than your outside lane.

I am not concerned with making all lanes the same length, just hopefully, a challenging racing layout. With rotating lanes in a 4 heat race, it all evens out. I have a Track Mate Timing system to install also. I work slow, so I have a few months of work before completed. I got the design idea from Youtube (War Eagle) has a wooden layout very similar to this. Watched several of his videos and it was a fast and challenging layout. I do not like crossovers but wanted as much track as possible in my space. Still torn between this layout and a Tri Oval, Love oval racing too, but not enough room for both.

Looks good. Should be a lot of fun and you're right. As long as you're rotating lanes it all evens out. Good job

Understood. I mentioned it because some people don't realize there's a difference between an inside loop and an outside loop. You are aware, and it doesn't matter to you.

As long as you're having fun. The best part of sectional track is that you can change it later if you want, such as to your tri-oval.

I wish I had more room for a bigger layout and a Tri-Oval!

I think you have done an excellent job considering the space "limitation" and the Carrera pieces.
I have tired as well to do the War Eagle track as a 4-lane Carrera track but my approach was miserable in comparison to yours.
Let us know how it drive once you have installed the bridge/supports and barriers.
              Anyway, nice job!
