Slot Car Illustrated Forum Rules

The Slot Car Illustrated forums have grown tremendously, and we thank all of you for being a part of this community. In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the site administrators.

In 2003, Scaleracing LLC purchased Slot Car Illustrated and all associated websites from Ken McClellan. In the interleaving years, the industry has changed dramatically. Manufacturers used to only deal with wholesalers, online shopping wasn't as commonplace, and there were a LOT of slot car shops. Sadly, all things change, and the slot car industry has changed as well, a lot of the shops have disappeared. Online commerce has changed a lot of the industry. The online forums of Slot Car Illustrated have always been financed by Scaleracing LLC, but as the industry has changed, and retail stores have all but vanished, this financing has fallen on 132slotcar.us, the retail side of Scaleracing LLC. As such has been moved to be under the umbrella of 132slotcar.us, and certain things have changed as a result. So therefore the forums, Slot Car Illustrated, are an extension of the retail store located at 132slotcar.us

Please abide by the following rules. Thank you.

General Rules

• While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, profanity (or attempts to bypass profanity filters), insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.


• Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.


• Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.


• Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum, email, visitor messages, blog comments, picture comments and private message systems to spam other members.


• We also do not allow posts or links to sites that are sexual in nature or violate community standards. The administrative team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.


• Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.


• Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.


• While we are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about competitor's products, we will not tolerate blatant advertising of other forums. Also, we would appreciate it if you refrain from blatant bashing of other boards.


• We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.


• Posts discussing moderator actions are also not allowed.


• Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.


• You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal.


• No off-site linking, if you would like that content to be shared, it can be added to the article section here on SCI.


• You cannot post advertisements or notices for contests.


• All post must be made in English.

We also reserve the right to ban anyone who wilfully violates the forum rules, as access to our forums are a privilege and not a right.

Registration Rules

When a new user registers, there are basic requirements when filling in a profile that must be included:

• First and Last name
• Date of Birth (can be set to private, this is for COPPA requirements.)
• Location

New user account requests that do not meet these guidelines, the user account may be deleted. We will always ask you to fill in missing data, we appreciate all members, however we do require the above information at a minimum to complete your registration.

To help control spam, the first post of any user are moderated. When that post has been approved, the user will be automatically moved to the SCI Members group which grants the user the ability to post without moderation (to an extent).

Editing a post too quickly can auto-unapprove a post or trigger spam-watch systems to activate. This will then require an administrator to approve the post, please be aware the administrators are not paid employees, but work on this forum in their free time. Which in some cases is not a lot, give us time please.

Advertising Services and Solicitation

We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products, services, funds or donations. Advertising and soliciting in signatures is also prohibited. Advertising for competing products is not allowed.

Buy/Sell Rules

At this time, the buy/sell group on SlotCarIllustrated.com is free to all members. However in the past there have been sales from dealers selling through alternative means utilizing this forum for their sale. This behavior will not be tolerated. And if it is discovered to be happening, the buy/sell group will be deactivated.

Below are the rules for this Buy/Sell area. Please read through this entire thread before posting and dealing on this forum.

• This is for private users to sell their own no longer wanted items, normally these will be used. This Buy/Sell group is NOT for shops/stores to sell their unsellable items here, as this forum is under the retail umbrella of 132slotcar.us.


• If you custom manufacture items, and wish to sell them here, please contact Alan (SCI handle scaleracing, or email [email protected]).


• Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.


• Make the title as descriptive as possible so people know what it is they are looking at.


• Please post a price in all deals. If you aren't sure how much you want for it, give a range. Please avoid using "make an offer".


• When posting a WTB (Want to Buy), include a price or price range that you are willing to pay for the item. This allows potential sellers to easily decide if they can sell the item to you.


• You cannot sell/trade something you do not have in your immediate possession.


• Be courteous when buying or selling, and use common sense.


• List the payment methods accepted (IE. Paypal, Money order, Check). Keep in mind that SlotCarIllustrated.com has members from all around the world, so currency exchange rates may play a factor in the price of an item, and how the item is paid for.


• Note, when using Paypal, SlotCarIllustrated.com aggressively discourages from sending payments as a gift. Doing so, offers no protection if the sale goes wrong. Any resulting posts/topics mentioning this happening will be deleted without notice.
• Post item condition (scratches and the like) and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.


• No thread-lowballing. If you think someone's price is unreasonable or you want to make a lower offer, post the offer in the forum. Do not send PM or email. People are entitled to post their item for the price they deem acceptable, if the price does not work for you, move on.


• Please refrain from posting external links to describe your item. Add all relevant information to your thread. No external links will be allowed. If you want to sell your item, then do so properly or not on this forum.


• Do not cross-post items, only offer an item that you are selling here. This buy/sell group is for sale of items to members of SlotCarIllustrated.com only.

If your post does not conform to these rules, the SlotCarIllustrated.com moderators reserve the right to delete any and all of your listings.

If you own a store, please don't just start a thread on here advertising it or advertising your products, this is not allowed. If you want to sell on SlotCarIllustrated.com, please contact 132slotcar.us about having an advertising account.

NOTE:
While we are aware there are other sites people buy their slotcars and accessories from. If you have issues with your order from one of these sites, this is not the place to complain about them. We can't do anything about it if your order is missing pieces or shipping is taking too long. In case you're wondering, the proper course of action would be to post on THEIR forum or email their customer service, not post about it here.

When exchanging anything online, be sure to look into the person's background. Don't send money and/or items to anyone unless you are positive you know who you are talking to.
